The rising stars of Charlton’s U18 squad are the latest to have to suffer The Valley pitch. Tonight’s 5th Round FA Youth Cup tie has been postponed and will now be played at Ebbsfleet’s ground on Friday 21st
I know the pitch resembles a cultivated field, but it’s a real shame that the youngsters aren’t going to get an opportunity to run out into the stadium. The FA would have to had sanctioned the ground change, although with the pitch looking worse and the weather getting no better, the club desperately need to nurse The Valley pitch through the next couple of months.
In ‘not in a million years loan rumours,’ the SLP have put QPR’s Sean Wright Phillips, Palace’s midfielder Jonathan Williams, Norwich City’s Luciano Becchio and Blackburn’s Leon Best on a list that anyone of us would be happy with. It looks like a CP wish list to me. Katrien and Roly may have a different list in Flemish.

my sons played at Ebbsfleet and wont the Kent Junior cup. They were in the Gravesend team along with John Akide. They played against Chris Smalling of ManUtd who was then playing for Maidstone.
How things have changed !!! There was a time when Gravesend & Northfleet FC could hardly play on their quagmire.
That SLP list of loan targets has to be fanciful in the extreme. SWP earns roughly ten times what anyone on Charlton’s staff currently pulls down and he’s long past being the answer to any serious footballing questions. SCP might like to have use of the likes of Becchio but what SCP might like and what Roly is likely to do are already clearly very different.
Agreed. I think the fact that Simeon Jackson was courted by CP (a long-term target), but then only offered a contract until the end of the season by RD, shows that CP is going to have a job convincing RD to bring in his suggestions. Mind you if RD or DD know and like them (Nego) then a 4+ year contract is strangely presented.
