Charlton Athletic 2 Doncaster 0

If it’s not too early for six pointer games then last night was one and those who struggled through the London rail meltdown were rewarded with a deserved and committed win, a huge win at that.

The *cough, cough* 14,000 in attendance were also rewarded with another goal of the season contender. Stephens arcing in a beautiful volley. One of those goals where jaws drop before fans realize that your team has just scored!

Simon Church could/should’ve had a hattrick but the boy just doesn’t stop running. A real modern day Garry Nelson, who makes himself available, works his tail off and pushes himself into goalscoring positions and more through balls like the one he received from Jackson lat night will I reckon add to his goal tally.

An excellent display in front of home fans – which is 3 from the last 4 at The Valley? Correct me if I’m wrong and a golden opportunity to make that league table look even easier on the eye on Saturday when the Tractor Boys come to town.

Finally a nod to those Donny fans who braved London’s rail system to come back for a game that had all the makings of the Law of Sod, and to Paul Dickov, honourable in defeat.

Powell-ometer: I don’t know what CP’s pre-match routine consisted off, but his charges started both halves so positively. More of the same please.

Good point ref. Dickov’s post-match comments. Not what I was expecting and to his credit.

Ted – to be fair, what else could he say? If the BBC had bothered to record the match stats (they certainly hadn’t during or prior o the game), it would have put the game firmly into perspective and there were no refereeing or other excuses for him to pin it on. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up!
