Nathan Jones leaves Addicks
As so often happens with success your best employees get headhunted.
Nathan Jones, who has performed wonders with Charlton’s promising and hugely successful U21 Development Squad has moved to Brighton as part of new manager Oscar Garcia’s coaching team. Jones played 150 games for the Seagulls and is a Spanish speaker.
Losing Jones is a big loss for Chris Powell and the club who insiders say has made a big impression with his bright coaching skills and mentoring ability since joining just over a year ago from Yeovil.
Recently Powell and Jones were in Turkey for the FIFA U20 World Cup using it as a study course for the UEFA Pro-Licence. The timing of Jones departure after this seems a little awkward but I believe the cost of these courses are met personally.
On the back of very little incoming summer activity this is another blow for the Addicks and the club have advertised for a new Development Coach. I wonder if this job has come a little bit too soon for Andrew Hughes.
