If only

Millwall’s defeat to Blackburn last night keeps them looking nervously over their shoulder. I think they will still get out of it, although their rapid disappearing support seem less concerned than most. The Lions have Forest at home, then play a crucial match against Palace next Tuesday which could either hilariously derail Palace’s play-off hopes or spin Millwall into a panic-stricken last game of the season away at Derby. They will surely miss Shittu’s influence too.

Just imagine if we’d beaten Millwall 2-0 at The Valley in March instead of the other way around and think (just for a second) how the table would look now?

The Blackburn circus sadly now looks safe and they entertain Palace on Saturday, whose last game is against Peterborough at Selhurst.

Barnsley look to have the toughest final games but with so many matches involving relegated threatened sides together it is anyone’s guess who will join Bristol City. Wolves look like they had their purple patch too early and I wonder if Blackpool will get caught with their pants down. One thing for sure is that the existing relegation record of 52 points will be bettered.

Watford have to win at Leicester Friday night to stay in the automatic promotion hunt but if Hull beat Barnsley Saturday that will be irrelevant. The form team always wins the play-off’s except there isn’t really one and although I would be sad to miss an opportunity to visit the Amex Stadium next season I would be pleased to see Brighton do it.
