Leicester City 1 Charlton Athletic 2
“I’ve got a lot of trust in them because they play for the shirt and they play for the club and they play for each other.”
That’s why you love them isn’t it? Who would have thought that result eh? Our 7th victory on the road tonight and the players showed again a real heart for the battle but this time reversed a trend and after conceding and every Addick on the planet knowing what was coming next, Powell brought on Danny Haynes and he fired a delightful goal and the players held on for a great victory.
After Chris Wood levelled the official club Twitter feed said that Leicester’s players and fans smelt blood and I said to myself that we needed an outlet to stretch the game and hope to hit them on the break. Sitting back was almost certainly not going to work. Haynes is introduced and, well I’ll take all the credit!
Yann set up Haynes’ goal and he was to have quite a night on his return to the Crisp Bowl. Only converting a penalty in front of the home end could have surmounted Yann’s night who swept us in front in the 19th minute.
Quite a night and 3 points that moves us back into exact midtable. Now Powell needs to instill some consistency with two home games coming. The only disappointment of course is that win was only witnessed by 680 supporters. They have 6 home games left to vanish a hugely disappointing Valley season and reinvigorate the buzz around the stadium from last season.
Come on you Reds!

Powell-ometer: Tactically he got it spot on tonight against his friend and mentor.
Elsewhere: Cardiff were beaten at home by Brighton 2-0 whilst Hull beat Blackburn, Watford won at Ipswich and Palace overcame Bristol City at home. Middlesbrough and Burnley was goalless as was Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday. Forest thrashed Mark Robins’ Huddersfield and that is 10 goals conceded in Robins’ first two games. Peterborough rolled over Millwall at The Den 5-1 in front of 8,000. Derby and Bolton ended 1-1.

Such joy CA – such joy! Delighted Chrissy got his substitution right!
He did, and the Powell is rubbish crowd have gone back into their shell until next time.
This is brave of me CA – and I’ve read the most recent posts. We were at Hull and its a hard call about Hamer because later in the game he pulled off a great save – we tend to dwell on mistakes with goalies don’t we? But the harder one to forgive was Palace of course. I liked your summary and still can’t get over peoples’ expectations of this season – so keep banging on about our lack of experience in this division will you, because they all need reminding. I really didn’t expect us to do as well as we have and thought we’d be hanging on by a thread (which we still could of course) – there are a number of players I didn’t think would cut it at this level. But they are learning – as is Chrissie. If only people would shut up and leave him alone – he’ll get there but you have to give him time. Its amazing that where I sit in the East stand I am surrounded by experts who have all managed at a high level – you should hear them!! Absolute plonkers to a man.
I know I’m a bit out of touch – but I laughed out loud at the Jeremy Kyle song at Hull. I may sing it at the people who sit near me on Saturday.
Great comments Pat, thank you. I believe the Jeremy Kyle song was first aired at Millwall, but I believe it is suitable in a number of geographies! Keep up your support of the boys & CP Pat.
Pat – we laughed at the kyle song too!
