Chicken pot pie

The Championship managerial merry-go-round continues in earnest. After 2 wins at Blackpool Michael Appleton was headhunted by the Venky’s at Blackburn and signed up as quick as you could say chicken kiev.

Appleton’s managerial record is a little worse than mine on FIFA 13 (semi-pro setting) but he exclaimed that “I am delighted to be joining such an historic club. This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am excited about the challenge we have ahead of us,” which I believe he also said when he joined Blackpool.

He has taken his sidekick Ashley Westwood so Steve Thompson (no, not ‘our’ Steve Thompson) will take charge of the Tangerines tomorrow at The Valley.

Blackpool wasted no time in selecting their number one target, and that was Phil Parkinson (yes, ‘our’ Phil Parkinson) and he wasted no time in turning them down! So, both Barnsley and Blackpool are now searching for a manager, Blackpool for the 2nd time in a couple of months.

The bloke I feel sorry for in all this is Gary Bowyer, who sadly will probably go back to obscurity, but Barnsley could no worse than give him a call.

In Charlton news the ever unreliable Rich Cawley of the South London Press published Chris Powell’s January shopping list in today’s paper that included Kerim Frei, Jeffrey Schlupp, Hogan Ephraim, Andros Townsend and Marvin Sordell, who I heard has a social networking addiction. He needs to go down the pub.

Also this week Chris Powell said that he will listen to offers for BWP. That makes me a little sad but he just hasn’t grabbed the step up in class not unlike two or three others. Millwall were rumoured as one destination but MK Dons seems more likely.

Give them a loud shout tomorrow if you are going. Come on you reds!

After all his work at Portsmouth, maybe Blackburn are installing an “administration” expert …. Will the chicken cross the road?
