Charlton Athletic 2 Peterborough United 0
For once we managed to avoid the home game banana skin last night. By the sounds of it we have played better and lost, but on the basis we are in lady luck’s credit, I’m happy to use up a slice of the balance.
Peterborough maybe the division’s smallest club but whilst we have been sweating it out in a lower division, in the same timeframe Posh have built a decent footballing side with a fluid 5-4-1 formation and have a couple of match-winners in George Boyd and Lee Tomlin.
I see Jackson has came in for a bit of stick but I think he is starting to coming to terms with this league and is much more effective in the middle and alongside our French hero and Morro, Jacko provides a valuable spine to the side.
Like everyone else I was chuffed to see Kermorgant seal the win, although I was surprised last night to see him start over Hulse. Powell now has an interesting selection dilemma upfront, or perhaps he doesn’t with Fuller now injured and Haynes probably not fit for Saturday.
Fuller’s goal was absolutely top drawer and he is a player that can turn a miserable 0-0 home draw into a glorious victory. He is very valuable to this squad and thinks a step ahead of a lot of defenders in this division. I hope he is not out for long.
With Morrison now suspended Powell will have to change the team again on Saturday, but this group of players, who for many winning was a habit last season, have rekindled their spirit as we go to the Lions’ Den next.

Powell-ometer: Will be pleased to have won ugly but will be forced into making more changes on Saturday.
Elsewhere: Watford scored 4 at Hillsborough, Middlesbrough beat Huddersfield 3-0, Millwall had another good win, this time at Molineux and Brighton laboured to a 2-0 win over Bristol City. Ipswich climbed out of the bottom 3 after beating Forest and Leeds won for the 2nd time in 4 days at home to Leicester. Palace and Hull was goalless, Cardiff were held at Derby, Blackpool and Birmingham drew 1-1 as did Barnsley and Burnley.
