Derby County 3 Charlton Athletic 2

Another lesson tonight at Pride Park. You don’t win many games after being 3-0 down and starting as sluggish as we obviously did.

It’s a learning curve and without any sign of recruits, Powell will have to rely on his man-management skills and I hope that we take the last 25 minutes to Ipswich on Saturday and not the first 65.

As fans we have to stick with the boys, I read a lot of negative stuff on Twitter this evening and they are the sort of supporters we can do without.

I wasn’t really surprised that Evina didn’t get a start, but it did appear that Wilson and Solly swapped over at some time in the 1st half. Solly is such a natural right sided player his talents are frankly wasted trying to come to terms with left back. Pritchard was left out for Danny Green, who deserved his chance and took it.

Green like so many other young players in Powell’s squad have everything to prove in this division and this is their opportunity to propel themselves to the next level, with us (hopefully) or elsewhere. Otherwise they will find themselves reverting back to the grind and obscurity of the lower leagues.

I wish Powell would be more adventurous in his selections. Powell was critical of how we started but what were their instructions? Keep it tight to start, don’t concede and hang on for a point? I hope not, we have nothing to lose in away games in this division.

Kerker and Fuller from the start Saturday. Width and adventure. Let’s take this division by the scruff of the neck. Come on you reds!

Elsewhere: Jordan Rhodes scored again as Blackburn stay top beating Barnsley, top scorers Blackpool stay 2nd after thrashing Boro, Sam Baldock got a brace as Bristol City won 2-1 at Peterbrough and Hull had a fine win at Elland Road. Brighton are looking good as is Craig Mackail-Smith, scoring from the spot at Vicarage Road, Cardiff won in front of 9,000 at The Den, Palace and Forest ended 1-1 and improving Birmingham beat Bolton at St Andrews. There are three more games tomorrow.

After listening to the first half I had to leave with other things to do and only caught the final score, so it was interesting to read your comments, CA. I gave up on reading negative comments at the beginning of last season,(which is why you still have me as a reader).

This season was always going to be a big learning curve and if you don’t do it fast then you suffer. It’s not an easy league…but then why should it be. We haven’t had millions of pounds pumped in and we weren’t relegated last season keeping our Premier League players, but we do need to bring more hunger to our game. This is what we need to understand…

On another note…Fakenham Town won, beating March 3 – 0…and believe me, after an earlier match I saw….that’s what CAFC need to learn. You can do it…
