French fancy

On the eve of the new season, a new signing. Powell’s 4th signing of the summer is former Tottenham Hotspur centre-back and wonderfully named Dorian Pierre Dervite-Vaussoue.
Dervite was at Spurs from 2006 to 2010 but not long after making his competitive debut in November 2006, he suffered a bad knee injury in a reserve game. He played at Southend on loan during the 2nd half of the 2008/9 season and impressed at a lower level (League One). Since leaving Spurs he has been playing with Villareal B but I’m led to believe that his knee still gives him problems.
A one-year deal for the 24-year old doesn’t represent a gamble and as a squad filler Dervite could do a job. Hey, if he is half as good as the last Frenchman signed on a free transfer then we’ll be happy.
