Getting shirty
The Charlton club shop opens on Saturday with the new kit available to buy. It might have been hastily designed but it was sure quick to the shelves. I remember the days when you couldn’t even get it for Christmas. Other items are available as well.
The shop will then close again at a later date to get the full Nike treatment. For me it is a little disappointing to lose our identity but I am sure the store will end up being more dynamic and professional selling a wider range of both affordable and more desirable goods.
Not a lot has been said about the online store, but hopefully this gets a full makeover as well as it was starting to show it’s age.
The League Cup draw was made this morning or the Capital One Cup as it is now sponsored. We got drawn at home to Leyton Orient. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14th. Some ties may be played on the Saturday before but not any games in London due to the Olympics. We are pencilled in to play Fulham at Craven Cottage behind closed doors that final Saturday before the Championship season starts.
Talking of friendlies, Barnet away has been added for July 28th. So Welling kicks us off in just over a month, then they go to Spain, and back for Barnet, Bury Town and Crawley. Followed by Gillingham and then apparently Fulham. All away.

Hi CA, Well travelled as usual.
Another viewpoint is that we are temporarily sub-letting the club shop. To be honest I have not bought anything from it for several years due to the rubbish they were selling.
I take this move as only a win, win situation, especially as the staff are being retained. You never know, we might all buy something from it now!
I am taking a sabbatical to work on the Olympics, and have just got off the phone from confirming the dates, and ordering my uniform. Should also be a great experience as I should be getting close up to all the action, even if it is only working with the sponsors.
TRC, hello mate. I agree on the shop. I am hoping for some decent (i.e. I actually might wear it out of the house) ‘leisure wear.’
Re The Olympics. That is a fantastic idea. Honestly I have got more and more pissed off with the Olympics as time has gone on, but purely only for selfish reasons. A blog post will be forthcoming.
