Anyone else having withdrawal symptoms?

Despite being ultra busy at work, as usual I steal the odd minute to trawl t’internet for football news, especially Addick related and…. nothing. What’s going on? We had signed 15 players by now a year ago. Powell out!

I have just written all of the Euro 2012 kick-off times on my calendar. Nope, still not feeling it. That England squad, and there is not an awful lot different Roy could have done, is one of the most uninspiring I have known for a very long time.

Maybe the complete lack of expectation will help us. Even all the flags I saw last week back at home hanging from people’s window’s are for old Queenie, not for the bi-annual Football’s Coming Home movement.

Now Frank Lampard looks like he’s going home. Not much lost there, but look who’s replacing him? Jordan Henderson. That’ll get the French worried.

If the starting XI for the French game is Hart, Johnson, Terry, Cahill, Cole, Milner, Parker, Gerrard, Walcott, Young, Carroll. Then how many would make an all star Premier League XI? One, Joe Hart. Parker and Young might get on the bench.

It was good to see Liverpool’s Fenway Sports Group shop local today with the appointment of Brendan Rodgers. Amongst all of the self pity and naval gazing the Scousers may just have hit upon a real result with the appointment of the Irishman, as long as they give the bloke a chance of course.

Swansea meanwhile have lost another bright young manager and it intrigues me as to where they will look next. Chairman Huw Jenkins won’t want to compromise the style in which the Swans play and Gus Poyet would be an obvious replacement. Karl Robinson maybe a good outside bet and I question whether Ian Holloway will still be at Blackpool come the middle of August.

Roberto Martinez has snubbed Aston Villa to stay at Wigan but Randy Lerner looks like he is looking past Alan Curbishey’s raised hand to Paul Lambert. Why Norwich City’s season has ended tits up is beyond me but Lambert looks off, with Grant Holt set to follow. Next Norwich manager then? Maybe the post-season isn’t as boring after all?
