Huddersfield Town 1 Charlton Athletic 0

Did anyone else spot that all of the officials were from the north of England including referee Carl Boyeson who lives just a short journey along the M62 in the east of Yorkshire! Is that really allowed to happen?

Yes Darel Russell was an idiot for retaliating and getting sent off for the 2nd time in 5 appearances, but it was clear Anthony Kay was a bigger culprit and should have walked at the same time.

Meanwhile referee Boyeson played the role of homer, as you would imagine, particularly well and Huddersfield resorted to all manner of time-wasting tactics to hang on to their victory.

Despite going down to 10 men, we played much better after Russell departed and we kept the ball well (54% of possession) and created a number of chances, one or two were unfortunate not to count especially a late header from Leon Cort, when I thought we had snatched a very credible point.

It wasn’t to be as we dropped points due to another penalty (thanks also to Darel Russell) and we have to move on with confidence intact and one aim in focus.

Powell-ometer: He would have to be annoyed with the unprofessionalism of Russell and maybe if fit it is time for Hughes to come in. Hayes started replacing an unwell Yann. Powell just needs to keep the team focused and committed.
Elsewhere: Sheffield Wednesday won at Leyton Orient with a Johnson goal, Stuart Beavon equalised late for Wycombe to hold MKD at home whilst Carlisle, Stevenage and Notts County each gained a point. Rochdale and Exeter are now in deep trouble after losing to Brentford and Tranmere respectively.

Even following from 7,000 miles away, it was obvious the ref was bent.
Boyeson? I think it was Simpson – as in Homer…..
