Minus 10 temperatures overnight in Derbyshire on Saturday so it was no surprise that our game at Chesterfield was postponed. Just a shame the official who inspected the pitch on Friday had Michael Fish as his weather advisor. Thousands of Addicks keeping Little Chefs in business then as the majority had already set off by the time the game was finally called off.

Elsewhere Sheffield Wednesday came a cropper at Exeter with Gary Megson not best pleased. Their cross town rivals United beat Wycombe 3-0 and in the only other game Bournemouth missed out on climbing into the play-offs after being held to a goalless draw at Hartlepool.

The rearranged Chesterfield game has been slated for February 28th. This means we play Tuesday, Saturday for the next four weeks, so six games before this short month ends. Talk about the business end of the season.

A little selfishly I’m happy that these games are all getting bundled together as on a future trip home I get the opportunity to see two games as opposed to one but we’d much rather have the points in the bag.

As I plot a homecoming I see that the away game at Bournemouth has already sold out and the football for a fiver game at home to Stevenage is selling quickly.

You will mostly know better than me but our game tomorrow looks in better shape as the country warms a little and the snow disperses. With Huddersfield playing Sheffield United and Wednesday at home to Stevenage the top six all face each other in what could be a pivotal night for the promotion race.

MK Dons have impressed me under Karl Robinson and they carry a lot of attacking threat but at least they will play a more expansive game at The Valley unlike others we have seen recently, which will allow us to exploit space and puncture their back five.

I’ve lost touch a little on the team news front, although I understand that Kermie has been carrying a slight knock and Darel Russell has one game of his suspension left. If you are going, let’s hope its a red hot Valentines Night at The Valley.
