The Wedding Party
Saturday we were at a great wedding here in Chicago, and what we’ve talked about a lot since was how after pre-dinner drinks we were led into a huge decked out ballroom expecting to sit and eat but instead were met by a 12 piece band and the beginnings of a massive party as everyone hit the dance floor and dinner was put back an hour or so. Then during each course there was another 20 minutes or so of partying with speeches thrown in intermittently.
Sunday was the first morning that neither one of us had woken without our daughter for company. We have both travelled independently and been away from her overnight (me an awful lot more) but yesterday morning our hotel room felt very empty. We went and fetched her later Sunday morning from our friends and took her to the Kohl’s Children Museum to make it up to her, although to be fair she had a whale of a time at our friends house.
So a week of holiday and I can’t tell you how happy I was when we checked into our hotel Saturday morning and the lady said that we are with them for 7 days…. 7 days! I haven’t been anyone place for 7 days for ages. I might even unpack!
