Bury 1 Charlton Athletic 2
My birthday weekend continued this morning when we met some friends at the pool. I saw we were one-down at half-time but jumped in the pool and cleared my head of all Bury thoughts thousands of miles away.
Then a while later my mate was telling his son the Chelsea score and scorers and I decided that the time had come to pull my wrinkly self out of the pool. I maneuvered myself around kids, the knowing-other-half, who I saw take a quick glance at her watch, a cold Budweiser, which wasn’t as easy, and a menu thrust at me for me to chose my lunch and grabbed my Blackberry out of the bag and calmly searched through my Twitter feed for the final score at Gigg Lane.
There it was. Boom. Thank you. Pass me that Bud.
Addicks at Gigg Lane: Life, Love and CAFC.
Powell-ometer: A few choice words at half-time got the players fired up for a much better 2nd half performance. He had to jiggle the forward line with no BWP or Benson and plumped for Waggy’s pace, which allowed him to introduce Green. Great result today.
Elsewhere: Sheffield United won the early game at Yeovil 1-0 and MK also won again beating Stevenage with ex-Addick Charlie MacDonald (the replacement for Sam Baldock) scoring on his debut. Alan Lee got two as Huddersfield comfortably beat Wycombe, Leyton Orient are still pointless losing at home to Carlisle and Preston continued their improvement with a win at home to Notts County. Tranmere got the result of the day beating Brentford by two goals at Griffin Park.
Waiting for a hurricane is onerous and also being in the middle of a new biz pitch, the result was a perfect start to the day….our local supermarket was out of water, so we settled for a refresh of G&T, so now can enjoy the storm in a perfectly soporific state.. We’ll be just as wet as you, but the pool sounds far more enticing than the flodded basement that we’ll wake up to tomorrow….well done the Addicks!
John, be safe. Where do you live?
