Always believe in

Jason Euell signed a one year’s contract for the Addicks today after training with the club since early July. He’s still only 34 and brings invaluable experience and a Charlton legacy to Chris Powell’s brand new squad.

My mates and I were only saying on Saturday how pleased we all were that everyone of the new players (except John Sullivan I suppose) had no previous association with the club as Powell swept his new broom around the training ground, however Curbs was famed for sitting potential new signings down and showing them video’s of how Charlton climbed back from the edge of the abyss and I think similarly Euell could be an invaluable foil for both Powell and Dyer and an old head with first hand knowledge of the ‘Charlton story’. Welcome back Jase.

The question now is, will Euell be the last summer signing? I think that Powell is still trying to tie up another striker as well as a centre-half.

I think this one had been hinted at earlier in the summer but as you say he’s a very welcome signing. I like your comment that “he’s still only 34” but even if he doesn’t hit the pitch very often I’m sure CP will value his experience training up his new team and pulling them together. Who knows… a manager in the making, perhaps?

Have to say, and without wanting to put the mockers on anything, that with the sweeping changes Powell has made (and the promising start on Saturday helping too) I’m the most optimistic about a season that I’ve been in a long time. You always hope that things will go well but this time around something feels different. Can’t quite explain it. Hopefully performances will bear that feeling out.

Anyway, glad got to see them on Saturday, just a shame about the cancelled match with Reading thanks to the greedy idiots. Hope you have a good flight home!

Do you remember that comment that “Jason Euell traps the ball further than most players can pass it”? Who came out with that? Always enjoyed him as a player and it’s great to have him back.
