Jacks pot

Football was the winner this weekend wasn’t it? Barcelona. Swansea. Different players, but coaches with the same beliefs. What did Darren Ferguson change at Peterborough after they sacked Gary Johnson? Not the players, but the style of their football switching to a diamond midfield on arrival. Torquay United by all accounts also have a pleasing passing style but they lost the League Two play-off final to a more direct Stevenage (no longer Borough I understand) despite having the better of the game.

Swansea, like Brighton are a delight to watch under two manager’s with Chelsea connections, Rodgers clearly getting the very best out of Scott Sinclair, who was like a rabbit in the headlights at The Valley.

Good luck to the Swans. On the day that Dave Jones was sacked they become the first Welsh team to play in the Premier League. I don’t buy this Welsh clubs should be in the Welsh League stuff. Swansea joined the English Football League the same year as Charlton did and hell I remember Bob Latchford and Leighton James!

What Torquay and Barcelona prove is that anyone can play a patient passing game. It doesn’t need a Messi or a Xavi but it requires a vision and some patience. Powell, by all accounts as I didn’t see for myself, has attempted to change our style but next season with a transfer window and a pre-season he has the perfect opportunity.

Anyway another new player will be unveiled tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Welsh teams do indeed play in the English league. They are, or rather should be therefore, subject to the rules of the English league.
So why did Cardiff think they should be entitled to a Euro place if they managed to win the FA cup in 2008 (they actually lost in the final)?
They said ‘ because they are a Welsh team ‘
Cake and eat it, springs to mind.

Not sure of the date- maybe slightly before or after but I’m sure Dai ‘the drop’ Davies was in goal sometime around then for the Swans.

CA, after Peterborough totallly outclassed us in Feb yet somehow lost 3-2, a lot of Addicks fans were too quick to focus on the result instead of the obvious difference in class between the two sides.

It doesn’t surprise me in the least that they secured a well-deserved promotion, whilst we subsequently won two more matches all season.
