Special birthday
Next Thursday is my youthful other half’s birthday. Banned from actually saying the number, we will celebrate her ‘special birthday’ instead for the whole week starting on Saturday when we fly to Miami and spend two days including Mother’s Day in Coral Gables, a place we briefly visited last year.
Then on Monday we fly onto Colorado and end up with a drive to the ski resort of Aspen where we spend the week. I can’t ski because of my knee operation last September but it was my snow loving-other-half’s birthday wish that she attempted to get in some late season birthday snow, and looking at the report’s I’ll think she’ll be lucky.
Me and the little ‘un will make our own fun playing snow angels, throwing snow balls, slowly sauntering around Aspen’s charming streets and drinking hot toddy’s before meeting up with birthday girl at various points during the day.
Work has been a bit fraught so I’m looking forward to the break even though I’m not skiing because it will be a different type of holiday and Aspen has plenty to explore.
On the way back the following weekend we stop for a night in Denver because getting to Colorado’s ski resorts, any ski resort, to and from Bermuda is a nightmare and with my travelling record….

If you decide to go on one of the ski lifts, even if it looks like an ice lolly, dont lick the metal ‘arms’.
Have a great holiday and tell Mrs CA that she looks fantastic for a 30 year old.
I suspect she’ll like that!
Mate, that is good advice – the 30-year old bit, not the lolly bit.
Ot’s my wife’s special birthday this year and she managed to read this post over my shoulder. No pressure then.
Haha. Brilliant. If it’s any help mine said that she’d be happy with a night in The Oak and no fuss!
Have a great time and I hope the knee recovers strongly enough for you to ski again. As a plug for Utah, our major resorts have 50-67% better base depth than the bowl being reported for Aspen.

Highest snow totals for twenty years and ironically I have skied the least in twenty years due to massive work commitments. My wife also has a “major” birthday this year and it’s going to be a game trying to celebrate something she’d rather forget!
Just finished watching the Man U machine roll over West Ham – got to love ESPN in HD over here and boo Comcast in our area for the low quality feed. Cricket world cup coming in on BBC feed and two of my kids have “soccer” games this morning. Go Sri Lanka. Couldn’t be better.
Have a brilliant time, CA…enjoy making snow angels and having snowball fights before your little lady is off celebrating her special birthdays!
At least I haven’t got that joy…no special birthdays this year! 😉
oh…ps! At least you were sent off with a red smile in your step.
