Ignorance

Charlton Athletic 0 Brentford 1
I was ignorant to what was happening at The Valley on Saturday and frankly, I wish I still was. I did manage to switch my phone on as we rushed to get our Chicago connection at Miami just around the 88th minute of the game. Timing is everything.

I was very disappointed to see the starting line up. Too many out of form players, although Francis was dropped but there was not enough adventure or hope in the team. The top 6 is way beyond us now and spectacularly those chasing promotion all appear at the top of the form table whereas us and Oldham are stranded at rock bottom. Thank heavens for those first four, some would say fortunate, wins under Powell.

It’s hard to imagine Phil Parkinson putting us through the same sequence of results as he’d regularly pull a win out of the bag, but let’s not kid ourselves that this is all a sudden catastrophe. This devasting earthquake has been fracturing under the surface for a while. If there is further to fall, then heaven bloody help us.

Dejected Addicks at The Valley: Mike’s Meanderings; And Nothing Else Matters; Drinking During the Game; Charlton Casual; Blackheath Addicted.
CA fact: Ignoring Powell’s first four wins, our last league victory was on November 20th.

On a positive note Solly looked a cut above on his return. Unfotuneately two more injuries, but no game until Saturday this week.

It is all about survival now, and then a clean sweep for next season. So a good time to blood some youngsters, and decide who we actually want to keep.

Sound post / assessment (as usual) re our position, unless there is a real danger of a relegation fight. However “Buzzabout” has submitted a resume (on CAFCPICKS) on the liklihood of such based on his renounded figures capabilities (naturally an accountant by profession.) He concludes we will be safe so I bow to his intellect on the subject.
I take your point about fielding players out of form; however though that’s a fact we prob. havn’t got enough stand-ins available to replace them.
Potentials include, Solly (now in), Mambo, (and Johnson and Anyinsah, but they were not available due to injury).
Stav’ and Tumar are prob. too lightweight.
Unless he is not match fit, I cannot understand why Parrett was not given the opportunity to take a peck at things (especially given the dreadful form of McCormack.

“Never able to get 10 points after the turn of the year”

Is it the the old Curbs Curse returning, and was CP present when the gypsy put the curse on? It’s all very sad and such an anti climax to November. I doubt we’re threatened with relagation but a couple of wins would be good to make sure about now.

Hopefully Powell rebuilds from within this summer, we have some decent youngsters to use as a foundation.

For a post entitled ignorance, you really shouldn’t have got the score wrong.. It was 0-1 not 0-0.
