Oregon smoregon
My other half left earlier today for a work trip to Portland, Oregon leaving me and little ‘un in charge. This has annoyed me tremendously. Not because we have been left home alone but because she is visiting an American state I’ve never been to!
My other half had a target of doing all 50 states before a certain landmark birthday, but unless she jumps a greyhound bus from Portland and embarks on a serious road trip, she is rapidly running out of time. I’m pleased to say she trails me in the race to the 50, I have done 38 at the last count but have never ventured to the pacific north-west.
I have already missed out this year on a chance to see Tennessee when my mates travelled to Nashville for their Superbowl weekend in February. Tennessee is another state my other-half has got on me as she spent some time working in Memphis when she was at university.
Among those states that I have never entered are North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Idaho, Alabama and Montana, each of which will take some planning to visit but hopefully one day….
The one state I’ve spent the most time in obviously is Illinois and we will all travel there next Saturday for a five day visit. Again the busy-other-half is working but our daughter and I will swan around shopping and lunching and catching up with a few old friends.

A real treat awaits you in the Pacific Northwest, CA. Hope Vancouver is still in the works.
In the calendar for May Ken.
Blimey, I’ve got one-up on CA having been to Alabama!
You’ve also been to Bengaluru, and I haven’t?!
I’ve only done 24 (and almost all are Democrat states).
Not a bad plan. Alabama certainly doesn’t fall into that category!
Just had a count up and I am claiming 17 States and 33 countries.
33 for me, but many quite fleeting and over 40 years ago!!
Not hitting amny new ones these days but Montana is firml;y in the sights.
Montana has a lot to entice. The mountains, skiing, national parks, glaciers, the British influence, grizzly bears. Definitely high up my list as well Mike.
