Bad planning
As Christmas has come and officially gone (although I’m still wishing people ‘Happy Christmas’ because I don’t go back to work until the 4th) I have got increasingly pisseed off that the Brighton game is tomorrow night when 95% of the countries football matches were today. Why are we playing tomorrow? It’s not on the box. There wasn’t some world championship long jump event at the Withdean today was there?
Three times in the last couple of days I have passed within 750 metres of the Withdean, but tomorrow night at kick off I will be tucking into a scrumptious indian take away at my brother’s in Shoreditch.
Yes I know, bad planning on my part and not for the first time this season either.
This Christmas has been one of postponements for Charlton. Hartlepool, then the takeover and the extremely late call by Andy D’Urso on Boxing Day to postpone our Valley game against Southampton. Rightly, many were annoyed about the decision less than an hour before kick-off with no public transport, a very busy M25, a thousand or so Saints fans in SE7 and sad shoppers out in their droves. The cancellation is said to have cost the club 100,000 quid, a big chunk of any profit from the Spurs’ cup game.
My Christmas has been very enjoyable though, far more so than Huddersfield’s anyway. Mind you I can’t face any more turkey and if someone puts another brussel sprout in front of me, I’m liable to lob it across the room.
I will only be eating Terry’s Chocolate Orange and take-away curries from now until the new year. Enjoy the rest of your Christmas, especially if you will be in East Sussex tomorrow night.

Merry Christmas, CA…I hope you have a great New Year too.
Let’s hope the ref at the Withdean keeps his head…it sounds a close thing at present!!
Enjoy your curries!
