Milestone
Just 32 hours back in the UK, collecting my son (who for any new readers, lives with his Mum) to bring him back to Bermuda for a couple of weeks.
We pretty much covered everything an energetic boy can do on the island last summer, so just the best bits this time around added to plenty of rest and relaxation and together time for my son and daughter. Today was personally a wonderful milestone watching them both play together around the house and in the pool.
Our 9-month old daughter has had a recent bout of separation anxiety but it was amazing to see how she interacted with my 10-year old son. Hurrah for Skype, Flickr and her staring intently at my laptop’s screensaver.
For an hour every night we have 11+ homework my son and I. He is considered a borderline pass for September’s exams but I was encouraged by the way he put thought into the questions and arrived at the answer. It had my pea-size brain working though, I can tell you.
I passed my 11+ (when I was 11 before you ask) but decided against grammar school because my parents stupidly gave me a choice. However after tonight’s practice run, it does make me wonder what more I actually learnt at secondary school before I began work life.

How wonderful to have your two together…it’s special times.
Ahhh…the 11+…my grandsons don’t have that, so it’s choices…anyway I hope your son does well. I have a cousin who was a borderline case, and her parents fought for a place at Dartford Grammar(centuries ago!)…it didn’t suit. It all depends on them and how they fit in, the same as all of us no doubt!
