Josh Edwards signs on 4-year contract

A little known fact is that Dunfermline is twinned with Sarasota. That is my only insight on Josh, who today signed a 4-year contract with Charlton reported to be for a five-figure sum.

The 24-year old has 220 games under his belt and was in the Scottish L1 team two seasons ago, the year Dunfermline won promotion, and again in the Scottish Championship team of the year for this past season.

Obviously here we are relying on Nathan Jones’ ability to pick a player, because little is known of Edwards outside of Scotland.

The club’s recruitment of permanent signings has been poor at best these last few seasons, especially when dishing out long contracts. Let’s hope that Edwards can emulate many of the fine Scotsmen we used to sign.

Edwards is left-footed and will provide options from the left side of central defence all the way further up the pitch. His profile of having a good engine and physical fits in with Jones’ profile well.

The only question maybe will be Edwards’ ability to settle. He is a small town boy, so the very best of luck to him on his new venture.

I did enjoy Andy Scott’s attempt to make himself relevant by adding some wisdom into the official announcement 🤣😁🤣

I know he is not your favorite, schardenfraust should not be encouraged …. or should it 🤔

This was flagged up plenty of times – but it’s a sign that we are getting our targets signed up.

All of your posts about 20 Years, 20 Players, then we go and sign a left-sided Scottish defender, and I couldn’t help think of Mark Reid!

If Josh Edwards is half the player Reid was, then it will be a decent signing…

    • Haha I know. Used to love Mark Reid. He’s on my shortlist but that numbers around 35
