Jonny Williams to leave?

With a miserable weekend averted due to the postponement of the game yesterday 😉, we now wait for tomorrow to pass to see how this season’s January transfer window ends.

The addition of Ronnie Schwartz, Liam Millar and Jayden Stockley has immeasurably improived the squad this January. Yet it is still light, especially wide with the loss of Doughty and Smyth. So I’m expecting a bit of action tomorrow.

Charlton Athletic 2 Swindon Town 2

Two more points dropped. How many times can we give a team a two-goal lead. Can we at least next time start the game 0-2 down, so it gives us 90 minutes to get them back?

Get bored of saying this, but this team makes it hard to build real trust in, and affinity with. It’s extremely hard to look at the games since November and think we are anything other than a mid-table side.

Today we started well, but were 0-1 down at five past three! The defending was atrocious. Ben Amos also looks as if he is lacking confidence, but that is probably not surprising.

Alfie to stay after he goes

I have been a bit of an apostle for young players being loaned back to us after we’d flogged them in the past…. have we ever done that by the way?

It seems that Thomas and Steve Gallen have been negotiating hard with clubs over Alfie Doughty to a) get the best instant price b) the most attractive sell-on fee and c) allow him to see out the season with us after he regains fitness.

Shinnie and Smyth make 12

The loan signings before the deadline closed of Luton attacking midfielder Andrew Shinnie and wide front man Paul Smyth from QPR brought Charlton’s summer transfer window to 12.

A whole new team with a sub, although we’d have to play rush goalie.
