Tanto signs
Or to give him his real name…. Isaac Tanitoluwaloba Aduraoluwatimileyin Olaofe was today added to Nathan Jones’ Championship squad. Imagine getting his name on the back of your short at 50p a letter?
Olaofe has signed a three-year contract with a club option of an additional year.
The fee listed as undisclosed is thought to be around £1.5m. Signed from Stockport where he has scored 33 goals in the past two seasons.
Tanto sounds a proper Nathan Jones player. Quick, powerful, high levels of fitness and willing to run all day.
The Lewisham-born striker who came through Millwall’s academy won’t be amassing a load of goals I suspect, but he brings a lot of differing abilities to Jones’ squad as well as potential which you just know the manager will already have a plan on developing.
Olaofe said “it’s a great feeling. There’s a great atmosphere at The Valley so I’m looking forward to playing there. Hopefully I can help elevate the team in the right direction because the current trajectory is a very good one.”
Welcome Tanto, and good luck Covered End with a song for this lad.

I Thought Llanfairpwyl etc etc was hard enough to say .
Hopefully a good signing
Aha, so he is coming. I was beginning to wonder. I heard about this on Saturday.
Welcome Isaac.
Tanto has arrived.
I will reserve my opinion on signing Oloafe as I have significant doubts on NJ’s judgment on strikers. From what I have read his goal conversion rate is poor at 16%. In Div2 he scored 20 league goals and last season in Div1 he scored 10 a significant drop. He is a hard worker but not great technically. At Stockport he had Wooton as a centre forward to play off.
I note that Stockport have immediately replaced Oloafe by buying Mothersille from Peterborough and my initial impression is that Stockport may have done the better deal. I hope I am wrong about Oloafe but I have my doubts.
The signing of Kaminski does not sit well with me as Mannion did enough to convince me he is worthy of being our No.1 goalkeeper. Mannion is too good to be No.2, at 27 he should be a first team regular, if not with us, somewhere else.
NJ seems to put a lot of faith in experience, Docherty has experience but I thought he was poor in both Wycombe games and only slightly better against Orient. I hope his position is under review both as a player and captain.
Agree with you Rierti on both accounts re the new signings, apart from I think Brewer is the better of the two. Also just found out we have paid £1mil for Kaminski, so with his wages being over a million a year he will by far be out most expensive aquistion! I just hope he lives up to Jones expectations, plus I can see other potential signings asking for a lot more before putting pen to paper, as this could well now set precedent
My Stockport pal reckons he’s great as a sub. So could be a Chucks replacement? As for the song, Stockport sang ‘Tanto”s on fire. You’re defence is terrified’
Signing Godden didn’t work out too bad after all the initial abuse NJ got on that one…I have every faith he’ll be the perfect foil for Sniffer, from what Insaw at their place, fits the bill perfectly for what will be required of him.
Bit of muscle and pace up front for Godden to feed off…….hopefully !!
Someone has already come up with this song. It’s pretty good.
Now I cheer for you (I cheer)
Now, you score for me
This Tanto love we’re given
I give you all a fan could give you
Raise our voices in the covered end
Tanto love, Oh, Tanto love
sung to the tune of Tainted Love – Soft Cell
Like it.
Ex-Millwall…but he fits the NJ template as being strong and he looks like he can handle himself.
Welcome, as for a song we’ll just steal whatever Stockport used and adapt as necessary.
That name is one hell of scrabble hand though, how many points would you get for that?
Very clever and very good tanto Love.
How popular it becomes will depend on how well he and we do this season. It’s going to be tough. I will be preparing overall, for more hurt than joy but feel relief that we will be playing in a higher league
