Gavin Carter

A small but what might be a significant update on the board structure by the club.

“Following a recent meeting of Charlton’s owners, Global Football Partners, Gavin Carter, has been appointed as the Non-Executive Chair of the Charlton Athletic board.”

There has been a fair bit of shuffling of positions (some might compare it to deckchairs on the Titanic) since these owners took over from Thomas Sandgaard.

Life-long fan Gavin Carter is the only person on the various boards who is emotionally invested to the club, and also has a monetary investment.

His ‘behind the scenes’ journey began as a Senior Management Team non-exec and now sees him as I would say the first point of reference to the owners from the football club.

I have no idea and the announcement is short on detail, but I would offer that Carter now has overall responsibility to align objectives and provide much closer communication between the club and it’s mostly foreign based owners.
